Entering the Holy Season

Advent is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas. This year, it begins on Sunday, November 28th. During this season of gratitude and preparation, we invite you to take the next step in your life at Saint Clement and with your relationship with Jesus Christ. As we journey through Advent together this year, you will have many opportunities to prepare your heart and home for the Birth of our Lord. We joyfully invite you to join us in worship at Mass and in the many opportunities we offer to Belong, Pray, Serve, Learn, and Give in our community.

Like many across the world, we pray daily here at Saint Clement for the end of the pandemic and healing of those who are sick. Please note, the Archdiocese of Chicago requires the wearing of masks inside Archdiocesan facilities, including parish churches like Saint Clement, regardless of your vaccination status.

Children's Nativity Processions at 9:30 a.m. Family Mass during Advent

Each week during Advent, at the 9:30am Family Mass, we will be "building" our nativity scene as we prepare for the coming of Jesus. Watch our youngest parishioners help participate! All slots for children to participate have been filled; contact Kelly Deehan with any questions.

Children's Christmas Nativity on Christmas Eve

At the 3 p.m. Children's Mass on Christmas Eve, children in grades 4-8 from the Saint Clement community act out the Gospel reading, telling the story of Jesus' birth during the Gospel at Mass. Students wishing to participate are required register and must be able to attend 3 rehearsals. Students act as the characters (Mary, Joseph, Shepherds, Angels, Magi, etc) and act as narrators in the story.

Children in 1st - 3rd grade are also invited to participate by coming in costume (either as angels, shepherds, or sheep) to the Christmas Eve Mass! (no rehearsals required!).

Advent Taize Prayer Service w/ opportunity to receive sacraments of healing

Monday, December 6, 7:00 p.m.
Taizé Prayer is a liturgy filled with song, scripture, and silent meditation. The music of Taizé is repetitive and chant-like, with simple melodies that are wed to simple texts, enabling us to enter easily into a spirit of profound prayer and meditation. As the words are sung over and over again, our meditative singing also becomes a way of listening and responding to God. There is intentional silence during the liturgy, allowing space for contemplation and conversation with God.

Please note, this service will include the opportunity to receive the sacraments of healing: anointing of the sick, and also reconciliation (confession).

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Wednesday, December 8
Join us as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation. This Solemnity celebrates Mary, Jesus' mother, being saved by God, and held free from sin from her very conception.
Mass times:
  • 12/7 - 6:00 p.m. Vigil
  • 12/8 - 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 7:00 p.m.

Lydia Institute Advent by Candlelight

Monday, December 13, 7-8:30 p.m.
The Lydia Institute, a community of professional women, invites other professional women to Advent by Candlelight. Amid the holiday hustle and bustle, the Lydia Institute presents a magical evening of candlelit prayer, reflection, and song. You do so much. You think of meaningful gifts for everyone. Let us gift you with a moment of peace and perspective to prepare your hears for a Christmas you will never forget.
