Friday Sack Lunch Program/Hospitality Update
Due to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect and the restrictions it places on our access to parish buildings, we have had to temporarily suspend our Friday Sack Lunch and Hospitality Program. However, our commitment to those facing homelessness and food insecurity remains a fundamental part of our faith and identity at Saint Clement.
We have continued to live out this commitment by working with the Chicago Help Initiative (CHI), a local nonprofit dedicated to serving people who are experiencing hunger and homelessness in Chicago, to host a mobile food truck at Saint Clement on two consecutive Friday mornings (March 27 & April 3). (Click here for the shout-out from the police we received on Twitter!)
The CHI food truck, staff, and volunteers have enabled us provide a prepared meal to-go for all those who depend upon Saint Clement for weekly food and fellowship. CHI is taking on this work across the city, organizing both prepared meals and sack lunch distribution at locations that have suspended meal service due to the shelter-in-place order and broader concerns around the spread of COVID-19.
