Jesse Tree 2020 Recap: Remarkable Generosity in an Unprecedented Year

Despite the many challenges posed by COVID-19, including the implementation of an entirely new Jesse Tree format, this Advent Saint Clement parishioners once again generously supported 12 local organizations, fulfilling wish lists to assist their ministries during the Christmas season.

Overall, as a parish, we were able to donate more than $7,750 in gift cards and financial contributions, as well as more than 1,550 items of clothing, toys and more.

The following gives a breakdown of the gifts collected:

  • 251 items of adult clothing - including winter coats, hats/gloves/scarves, sweatshirts, and long underwear
  • 434 items of children’s clothing - including winter coats, hats/gloves/scarves, pajamas, infant clothing, socks, and underwear
  • 578 gifts for children - including arts and crafts supplies, board games, LEGOS, books, soccer balls, basketballs, and learning toys
  • 88 gifts for adults - including lotion/shower gel sets, fleece blankets, and phone chargers
  • 135 essential items - including diapers, laundry and dishwasher detergent, dishwashing soap, bedding, and postage stamps

Gifts and financial contributions (including monetary donations and gift cards to Target, Amazon, Walgreens, Jewel, and Aldi) were distributed to 12 organizations:

We are truly grateful for the generosity of all who participated in Jesse Tree this year, supporting the essential work of these agencies and organizations.

Thank you as well to our amazing volunteers who staffed our drive-thru gift drop-offs and who delivered gifts to our partner organizations. We also want to acknowledge the administration and staff of Saint Clement School, who received, stored, and even helped unpack countless Jesse Tree deliveries. Thank you!

Finally, an immense thank you to the Jesse Tree leadership team, Colleen Jones, Julia Keller, Aylice Toohey, & Helen Wargel, who gave an incredible amount of time and energy to redesign this year’s ministry so that we could continue supporting our Jesse Tree partners safely.
