A Message From Cardinal Cupich Regarding the Upcoming Bishops Meeting in Rome
Dear Sisters ad Brothers in Christ,
At Mass this past weekend, pastors shared my message to all parishioners addressing the crisis of clerical sex abuse of minors. You may also listen to the message on the archdiocesan website.
As you may know, Pope Francis has called a meeting in Rome at the end of this month to address this matter. As I work with others to organize this meeting, I want to tell you that your concerns are close to my heart and that I will carry them with me as I head to meet the Holy Father and my fellow bishops. Both Pope Francis and I are committed to get this right and we need your support and prayers.
Please know how sorry I am, for the harm done to victims, but also the harm done to you, the faithful who also have been deeply wounded be all of this. Thank you for your continued prayers, and I ask that you continue to pray for the success of the February meeting, but especially for our priests and all who work for the Church faithfully during these very challenging times.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago
