Stories of Impact through Clement Commits: Catholic Charities - Refugee Resettlement Client Assistance Program

Did you know that every time you make a donation to Saint Clement, you are contributing to our Clement Commits program and supporting the work of organizations serving the common good? Through Clement Commits, we donate 10% each fiscal year from our parish collections to worthy organizations.

One of our recipients is Catholic Charities: Refugee Resettlement Client Assistance Program which received an $8,000 grant through Clement Commits.

Catholic Charities Refugee Services: For more than 40 years, Catholic Charities has helped refugees from around the world to call Chicago home. Each year, they resettle around 80 refugees who have been forced to flee their homelands due to war, terror, and persecution. Clement Commits funds will be used to support the general operating funds of the program, which are used to provide basic needs, like housing, for refugee families. Funds will also be used to provide emergency assistance for families. This includes things like financial assistance for rent, food, or other necessities that a family may have trouble affording due to job loss or other unexpected crises. The need for emergency assistance funds has been exacerbated due to increases in the cost of living in Chicago and to the pandemic.

LETTER OF GRATITUDE SENT TO SAINT CLEMENT

Dear Father Peter,

Thank you for your generous parish support of our Refugee Resettlement Client Assistance Program. With your gift, Catholic Charities is able to assist families new to the United States. Our services provide the basics such as securing housing, providing food, clothing, and cultural orientation, scheduling health screenings, and ensuring that children are enrolled in school.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on our economy and social fabric, leaving thousands of people newly struggling and in need. Catholic Charities is here to serve and accompany them as one of the largest private, charitable organizations in the country. We rely on mission-driven people and organizations throughout our region to join us in caring for our neighbors, especially now.

Thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness in supporting this program of Catholic Charities. Together we will continue to strengthen and support individuals, families, and communities during these unprecedented times.

Sincerely,

Sally Blount, Ph.D
