Through Clement Commits, we commit 10% of our offertory collections to provide aid to our sisters and brothers throughout Chicagoland and around the world.

Saint Clement Parish History

From our founding in 1905 to modern day, we invite you to view our video of Saint Clement Parish Thru the Eras! Anchored in the richness of the Catholic tradition and the foundation built by our community predecessors, our church and school are thriving.

After decades of change, God continues to show favor to this community as more people, families, and young adults join our parish family each year and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Today, Saint Clement continues the mission of our founders by helping people encounter Jesus Christ, grow as His disciples, and share His love with the world.

A New Chapter of Mission

As part of this ongoing mission, Saint Clement and St. Teresa of Ávila parishes are beginning to explore a genuine partnership under one pastor — not a merger, but a mission. Two neighborhoods with one shared calling, joining together in formation and service so that more people can be reached, welcomed, and accompanied well.

We are a vibrant, Holy Spirit-led Catholic community that invites all into a life-changing relationship with Jesus to bring love, mercy, and peace to the world.

We are committed to:

  • Welcoming and cherishing every person, because each individual is made in the image and likeness of God.

  • Inviting and accompanying people to take the next step in growing in their faith.

  • Fostering a community of joy, humility, generosity, and discipleship.

  • Listening to and answering the cry of the poor, marginalized, and most vulnerable in our community and world.

Our Vision

As we begin our journey toward our 125th anniversary in 2030, we believe God is calling Saint Clement not only to grow in number, but to grow in engagement and discipleship. Growth without engagement is not renewal.

Our vision is to ignite and nurture every Saint Clement community member’s faith by doubling the number of parishioners who are actively engaged in one or more of our Parish Anchors.

This is not simply a goal for growth in participation. It is a discipleship goal: helping more people encounter Christ, grow as His disciples, and share His love with the world.

How We Live Our Mission & Help People Grow in Faith

At Saint Clement, we believe parish life is about more than attending Mass or participating in programs. Our mission is to help people encounter Jesus Christ, grow in faith, and become missionary disciples who bring His love to the world.

Everything we do flows from Christ and leads back to Him. Rooted in the Eucharist, we strive to accompany every person—wherever they are on their journey of faith—and help them discover their next step in following Jesus.

Our ministry is organized around two simple ideas that shape how we accompany people in their faith journey:

  • The PATHWAYS describe where you are in your journey of faith right now.

  • The PARISH ANCHORS describe what you do — the practices of an engaged Catholic at Saint Clement.

First, find where you are. Then, live what disciples live.

Together, they provide a simple framework for living our mission: inviting all into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ and growing the Kingdom of God.

The Pathways: Where are you on your journey?

Each of us is on our own path of discovery. Wherever you are, we invite you to join us. These are not stages to complete in order. They are three questions worth asking continually.

Seeking to belong?
"Who is Jesus, and is this worth my life?" You do not need to be Catholic to start here, and you do not need your questions answered first. Come to Mass and stay a while. Let Alpha hold your questions, not your answers.

Growing as a believer?
"Do I know others here, and am I known?" Belonging here means being known by name in a group small enough to notice when you are missing, not just recognized by face on a Sunday. The Beta Course, Bible studies, Small Groups, Growing in Grace, and Clement Couples will take the next step with you.

Called to lead others?
"What is Christ calling me to give?" Faith is not only received—it is given away. As disciples of Jesus, we are all called to share the gifts God has entrusted to us. Leading does not require a title. It means using what you already have, your time, your home, your story, for someone else's sake.

The Anchors: What Does An Engaged Catholic at Saint Clement Do?

Knowing where you are raises a second question, and it is the one our parishioners kept asking: what does an engaged member of Saint Clement, an active Catholic, actually do?

Under the leadership of our seventh pastor, Fr. Ken Simpson, Saint Clement's parish leaders developed the five Parish Anchors as the answer to that question. They are not another program to join. They are the practices of a disciple, and wherever you are on your Pathway, all five belong in your life.

BELONG."Remain in me." (Jn 15:5) Being an active part of our community, with a spirit of open invitation.

PRAY."Teach us to pray." (Lk 11:1) Nurturing a transformative relationship with Christ through Mass and other worship opportunities.

LEARN."He opened the Scriptures." (Lk 24:27) Growing in knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith.

SERVE."To serve, not to be served." (Mk 10:45) Volunteering my time and talents to create a vibrant community and serving people in Chicago and around the world.

SHARE."Go and make disciples." (Mt 28:19) Sharing my gifts and blessings, including spreading the Good News of the Gospel with others.

Your Next Step

ACCESSIBILITY

We strive to make Saint Clement Parish inclusive and accessible to all! For those needing assistance, please know of the following:

There is a no-parking zone in front of Saint Clement for dropping off those in wheelchairs or otherwise disabled.

There is a ramped sidewalk leading down to the front doors of the parish office.

There is an elevator*** giving access to our worship and meeting spaces, as well as disabled-accessible restrooms.

***Please note, our Elevator is currently not functioning.This will affectaccess to the church and certain meeting spaces for those who are unable to use the stairs. However, our chapel remains accessible via the parish office reception area:

  • Sunday Mass at 9:30 a.m. is celebrated in the chapel.

  • Additionally, our 8:30 a.m. Daily Mass (Mon-Fri) will be held in the chapel during this time.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience and are working diligently to restore service as quickly as possible. If you have accessibility concerns related to an upcoming Mass, meeting, or event, please contact the parish office so we can assist you.

We have a t-coil hearing loop system in the west transept of the church available to improve hearing accessibility. We also have hearing loop receivers with headphones available. Learn more here.

PARKING

Located in the heart of Lincoln Park means streets may be congested and street parking is at a minimum. Please plan your trip accordingly. We also ask you to please follow all posted city signs when parking for Mass as we need to be mindful of our neighbors and any emergency vehicles that may need to pass. 

Saint Clement Parish has a parking lot located on the south side of Deming Place, across from the church. Those visiting are welcome to park in this free lot from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sunday - Saturday. Please note: On Sundays, and very event-filled days, double-parking occurs in our lot.

There is a no-parking zone in front of Saint Clement for dropping off those in wheelchairs or otherwise disabled.

Additionally, we offer parking validation for the garage located across from Lincoln Commons at 2316 N. Lincoln/SP Parking, entrance on the west side of the street. Pull the ticket to park in the garage. After parking, come to the parish office and ask the parish receptionist for a sticker for this garage that can be attached to the front of your parking ticket.

As a reminder, the following options are no longer available for our parish:

  • Parking validation is no longer available for the Lurie Children's parking garage on Clark Street

  • The Alcott school parking lot is no longer available to our parish.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

If traveling by bus, the #22 Clark Bus and #36 Broadway bus have a stop at Deming and Clark. The #74 Fullerton Bus has a stop at Halsted which is 4 blocks away from Saint Clement. The #76 Diversey Bus has a stop at Orchard which is 2.5 blocks away from Saint Clement. The Purple, Brown, and Red Line train stops at Fullerton. The Purple and Brown line stop at Diversey. These are the closest to Saint Clement.
