OCIA Coordinators’ Update: 6/05/2026
Jesus Desires to Share His Passover Meal with Us
(Order of Christian Initiation of Adults)
(for the previous update, please scroll down and click the left arrow found towards the bottom of the screen)
On the night of his Last Supper, in Luke’s gospel, Jesus tells his apostles “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Over the next three days, he fulfills his personal Passover from death to risen life, a life that is eternal, that lives beyond time and place.
At the conclusion of his Last Supper, he commands his apostles to “do this in memory of me.” We acclaim this mystery at every Mass, “When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again."
Jesus eagerly desires to share the meal of his Passover sacrifice with us. To do so, we must first proclaim our faith in the Trinity through baptism, either within the Catholic Church or by being received as a baptized Christian into full Communion with the Catholic Church.
If you are not baptized, or baptized in another Christian denomination, you are welcome to join the journey of Christian Initiation known as the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) which will lead to you being welcome to take Communion with us at Christ’s table. If you are a Catholic who has never made a formal first Holy Communion or been confirmed, you are also welcome to join our OCIA process.
This weekend, Zech Martin will be received at the 7 p.m. Mass and join us at the Lord’s table for the first time. We celebrate with him, his sponsor and his family.
There is still time to join our summer 2026 OCIA process for those seeking baptism, full Communion with the Catholic Church or completing the sacraments of initiation: Confirmation and/or first Communion.
We are hosting two cohorts, one on Monday evenings led by Ed Harasim and another on Thursday evenings, led by Victor Lara. Don’t delay registering or reaching out for more information! Registration will close in a few weeks.
Please email Fr. Radley Alcantara, Associate Pastor, or Ed Harasim, OCIA Coordinator, for further information on the process of joining the Church or completing your sacraments of initiation through Confirmation and/or First Communion.
