In the second letter to Timothy (2: 6 -7) the apostle Paul invites those who have received the gift of the Holy Spirit to “fan into a flame the gift of God” given by the laying on of hands (a reference to the precursor of Confirmation). He reminds the community of believers that “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
Many articles today reference the number of young adults seeking to know Christ and to find community in the Catholic Church. The number of our OCIA candidates has quadrupled over the past several years. The Holy Spirit is fanning the embers into flames of those seeking more in their lives. If you know someone who is seeking more meaning and purpose in their lives, please invite them to reach out to us. Be the Spirit’s hand coaxing and guiding!
The Holy Spirit also fans the flames of our community’s commitment to welcoming all through our doors and to living out our parish Mission, “inviting all into a life-changing relationship with Jesus to bring love, mercy and peace to the world.”
There is still time to join our summer 2026 OCIA process for those seeking baptism, full Communion with the Catholic Church or completing the sacraments of initiation: Confirmation and/or first Communion.
We are hosting two cohorts, one on Monday evenings led by Ed Harasim and another on Thursday evenings, led by staff member, Victor Lara. Don’t delay registering or reaching out for more information!
Register here. Please email Fr. Radley Alcantara, Associate Pastor, or Ed Harasim, OCIA Coordinator, for further information on the process of joining the Church or completing your sacraments of initiation through Confirmation and/or First Communion.
